Routes

Everyone has probably got their own view on which route to take to Le Mans and it is dependant on what you are driving or riding and how quickly you want to get there.

The quickest route from Calais is via Rouen and Alencon on the A28 alternatively you could follow the old route used by thousands up until 2005 along the N138, however these are fairly straight roads and not a lot of fun for bikes.

An alternative route used by some of us in recent years is to travel via Chartres which is as quick as using the old N138 route and still used by us as a route home as we tend to stay in the area. A recommended diversion is to Les Andelys home of Richard the Lionheart which has some excellent restaurants for those who wish to sample French cuisine without breaking the bank.
